And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend.
-Quran {41:34}
I want you to take a minute and understand what this means. When someone does us wrong, our immediate reaction is resentment, anger and sometimes revenge. You either distance yourself from them or you try to get equal. Allah tells you don't get even, get better. He wants you to not only forgive them but also take a step further; repel evil with good. If someone does you wrong, do them good. And Allah tells you that He will not only remove the enmity or ill feelings but He will go a step further as well, HE will put affection between your hearts. Hold on to His words. Listen to His advice. He knows what you know not. What they did is their share of actions they are answerable for, what you do is yours.
